Uterine Cavity Exploration
During a hysteroscopy, a thin, lighted instrument called a hysteroscope is gently inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterus. This provides a clear view of the uterine cavity, allowing for the direct visualization of any abnormalities, such as polyps, fibroids, adhesions, or uterine septum. It also enables the detection of potential causes of infertility, abnormal bleeding, or recurrent miscarriages.
Diagnostic & Operative Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy can be performed as either a diagnostic or operative procedure. In diagnostic hysteroscopy, the focus is on evaluating the uterine cavity and identifying any abnormalities. If necessary, operative hysteroscopy may be performed simultaneously to treat the identified issues. This may involve removing polyps or fibroids, correcting uterine abnormalities, or performing endometrial biopsies.
Quick Recovery Time
This procedure is typically performed on an outpatient basis, and recovery time is minimal. Patients can usually resume their normal activities within a day or two following the procedure.
